BASIC LITHUANIAN (40 akad. val.)
Basic Lithuanian is a practical course unit dedicated to develop the Lithuanian language and culture competences including basic linguistic competence (CEF A1 level) and socio-cultural competence. This “survival” course of Lithuanian is based on actual communication (i.e. listening comprehension and speaking in everyday situations), the paramount importance is placed on active general Lithuanian vocabulary enhancement. Simultaneously, socio-cultural skills are developed, i.e. awareness of the Lithuanian cultural phenomena and ability to compare them with cultural phenomena in other countries.
The practical course consists of the following topics: 1. Introduction to the Lithuanian language. Lithuanian Alphabet and the Sounds. Acquaintance. 2. Lithuania and its people. Family. Character. Professions. Workplaces. 3. Vilnius – a multicultural city (main microdistricts, famous places, transport etc.). 4. Lithuanian national dishes. 5. Personal holidays. National and Religious holidays. Traditions and customs. 6. Climate of Lithuania: seasons and typical weather. 7. The place I live. 8. The human body, health and feelings.
Tasks: training exercises; watching and analysing video and audio materials and task fulfillment;
role-playing; idividual and group presentation.
